The Stamford Big Green Spelling Bee on Friday 2nd November attracted well over a hundred contestants from many different schools in the Bandung area, with the 10 and below category attracting the biggest number of contestants. Competitors were encouraged to bring their own water bottle for free refill to avoid unnecessary use of plastic. Food vendors were also urged not to use styrofoam packaging or plastic utensils. Hopefully Stamford can set the best example in caring for the environment.
This scary and fun event was organised by JC members of the Student Council who worked really hard to make the event a success. Six different rooms were prepared where the party goers worked together to solve a mystery. As usual, teachers and students came up with some horrific and creative costumes.
This year’s Primary Book Week event celebrated reading in three different languages – English, Chinese and Indonesian. It was a big success with many exciting events leading up to the day itself – including Pyjama Day, snack break storytelling sessions, a popular door decoration contest and “Drop Everything and Read”. On the day itself, students dressed in costumes from their favourite stories, interviewed a real storywriter – Mr Francois Keyser, took part in a fun book quiz and put up some amazing performances. Another highlight was the photo competition #Snapbook, where students were photographed in their favourite location or reading with a friend or sibling.
UN Day was celebrated throughout the school with a dazzling array of bright costumes from around the world. Traditional games from different countries were enjoyed by all as well as the beautifully decorated booths. Thanks to parents for their contribution of delicious snacks from around the world.
New and old prefects made their promise to serve the school this month. Thanks were given to retiring prefects led by last year’s head prefect Bryan S4 who made a simple but eloquent and inspiring speech. New prefects were announced as follows.
Head prefect: Alin S3
Secondary Vice Prefect: Sarah S3
Primary Vice Prefect: Alexa P6
Congratulations and many thanks to all our hard working prefects.
The prefects and trainee prefects got together for an amazing school camp this year held in our own beautiful grounds. The enjoyable activities, organised by the head and senior prefects, included team building activities, cooking and of course movie watching and sleeping under the stars.

In the first week of Term One, Secondary and JC students collaborated creatively to produce their own mini research and design projects – from robotics to tsunami breakers, from candy dispensers to football boot cleaners, students impressed with their unique and creative approach and their presentations of their work.
