2018 Chinese Storytelling and Chinese New Year Celebration
Our annual Chinese Storytelling Competition aims to encourage students to improve and use their Chinese language skills and also serves to build participants’ self-confidence.
This year we added a new element to the competition – namely singing. Our participants for singing reached more than 50, showing the popularity and appeal of this new aspect to the competition.
We had another successful year for this competition and everyone worked together to make this event a bigger than ever success.
Chinese New Year
On February 16, Stamford School celebrated the start of the Year of the Dog together with our parents and guests.
We started the event in our traditional way with barongsai and dragon dancers walking around the school and meeting our students who were waiting excitedly in their classrooms.
This year we had some excellent performances from students, teachers and parents alike – with a particular mention to the very professional Mongolian dance performance from parents and teachers. Headed by Lao Shi Liu, this celebration ran very smoothly – there were many varied performances including singing, dancing, martial arts and drama musical. The performances reflected all the hard work put into preparations by the Chinese department and the commitment of students to give their very best.
